چکیده

Asymptotic approximations and importance sampling methods are presented for evaluating a class of probability integrals with multiple design points that may arise in the calculation of the reliability of uncertain dynamical systems. An approximation based on asymptotics is used as a ®rst step to provide a computationally ecient estimate of the probability integral. The importance sampling method utilizes information of the integrand at the design points to substantially accelerate the convergence of available importance sampling methods that use information from one design point only. Implementation issues related to the choice of importance sampling density and sample generation for reducing the variance of the estimate are addressed. The computational eciency and improved accuracy of the proposed methods is demonstrated by investigating the reliability of structures equipped with a tuned mass damper for which multiple design points are shown to contribute signi®cantly to the value of the reliability integral. # 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. ROBUST FUZZY CONTROL DESIGN USING GENETIC ALGORITHM OPTIMIZATION APPROACH: CASE STUDY OF SPARK IGNITION ENGINE TORQUE CONTROL

In the case of widely-uncertain non-linear system control design, it was very difficult to design a single controller to overcome control design specifications in all of its dynamical characteristics uncertainties. To resolve these problems, a new design method of robust fuzzy control proposed. The solution offered was by creating multiple soft-switching with Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model for optim...

A Non-Fragile H∞ Output Feedback Controller for Uncertain Fuzzy Dynamical Systems with Multiple Time-Scales

Abstract: This paper determines the designing of a non-fragile H∞ output feedback controller for a class of nonlinear uncertain dynamical systems with multiple timescales described by a Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model. Based on a linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach, we develop a non-fragile H∞ output feedback controller which guarantees the L2-gain of the mapping from the exogenous input noi...

Determination of Stability Domains for Nonlinear Dynamical Systems Using the Weighted Residuals Method

Finding a suitable estimation of stability domain around stable equilibrium points is an important issue in the study of nonlinear dynamical systems. This paper intends to apply a set of analytical-numerical methods to estimate the region of attraction for autonomous nonlinear systems. In mechanical and structural engineering, autonomous systems could be found in large deformation problems or c...
